Posh Sausage Butties

'Posh' Sausage Butties.

Ingredients:

Decent sausages.  Two per sandwich if they're thick ones.
Two slices of halfway decent bread.
French mustard.  English can be used if you're feeling brave.
Mayonnaise or 'Philadelphia Lite'..

The Cast:

Microwave Oven.
Sandwich toaster (...optional...)

Method:

  • Switch on the sandwich toaster to allow it to get to temperature

  • Nuke the sausages in a microwave-proof dish on medium power for one minute making sure you have well pricked them beforehand.

  • Turn the sausages over while waiting for one minute to allow them to 'rest'.

  • Nuke the sausages for a further minute and again, allow to rest for a minute.

  • Place the sausages in the sandwich toaster and allow to brown for a minute or two, regularly checking to make sure they don't stick.  They shouldn't.

  • If necessary, turn the sausages.

  • While the sausages are browning, coat one half of your bread with the mustard and the other with mayonnaise so that each buttie has one slice of each.

  • When the sausages are done to your liking, take them out of the sandwich toaster and chop into lengths of about 3/8-1/2".  Place on one side of each buttie.

  • Slap the butties together and enjoy!

  • If you want to be 'posh', now you've made your buttie, you can whack it back into the sandwich maker to toast off the outside.  This also tends to soak up any fat that may have collected in the sandwich maker, making cleaning even easier.

Because this is the first 'recipe', I've included some photos to celebrate my new found confidence:-

In its 'raw' state.  note that the sausages should be pricked!

After one minute in the microwave while resting before the next minute.

Afterwards.  Note the nice brown skins.

This is chopped before final assembly.

Ready to eat!

And cleaned up!
